Big Ten slate features Indiana-Ohio State showdown and Penn State-Minnesota matchup Things to watch this week in the Big Ten Conference: No. 5 Indiana (10-0, 7-0 Big Ten, No. 5 CFP ) at No. 2 Ohio State (9-1, 6-1, No. 2 CFP), Saturday, noon ET (Fox) This marks the 98th matchup between these two teams, but it's only the fourth time both teams have been ranked. Although Indiana is unbeaten, its soft schedule means the Hoosiers aren't assured of making the 12-team field if they lose this game. The only team with a winning record that Indiana has beaten is Washington (6-5). Ohio State needs a win to have a realistic shot at a rematch with top-ranked Oregon in the Big Ten championship game. Ohio State has beaten Indiana 28 straight times since the Hoosiers posted back-to-back victories in 1987-88. No. 4 Penn State (9-1, 6-1, No. 4 CFP) at Minnesota (6-4, 4-3), Saturday, 3:30 p.m. (CBS) This is likely Penn State's biggest obstacle on its way to a potential playoff berth. The Nittany Lions' lone remaining regular-season game is a Nov. 30 home matchup with Maryland (4-6, 1-6). Minnesota has had an extra week to prepare this game since its 26-19 loss at Rutgers on Nov. 9, which snapped a four-game winning streak. Penn State and Minnesota have split their last four meetings, with the home team winning each time. Penn State DE Abdul Carter has multiple tackles for loss in each of his last three games. He ranks second among all Bowl Subdivision players in tackles for loss (17 1⁄2). Southern California RB Woody Marks rushed for a career-high 146 yards in a 28-20 win over Nebraska. Marks has six 100-yard rushing performances this season. Rutgers RB Kyle Monangai is the first Scarlet Knight to rush for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons since Ray Rice did it three straight years from 2005-07. Monangai has run for 1,028 yards this season and rushed for 1,262 yards last year. Oregon OLB Matayo Uiagalelei recorded a sack and had a game-clinching interception as the top-ranked Ducks won 16-13 at Wisconsin last week. He has 8 1⁄2 sacks this season to rank second in the Big Ten. Four of the top seven Bowl Subdivision quarterbacks in passer rating are from the Big Ten. Indiana's Kurtis Rourke is second, Ohio State's Will Howard is third, Penn State's Drew Allar is fifth and Oregon's Dillon Gabriel is seventh. ... Illinois QB Luke Altmyer has thrown 18 touchdown passes with only three interceptions. The only Power Four quarterback with a better touchdown/interception ratio while throwing at least 10 touchdown passes is Clemson's Cade Klubnik, who has 26 touchdowns and four interceptions. ... Rutgers' three Big Ten wins matches its largest total since joining the league in 2014. Rutgers also had three conference wins in 2014, 2017, 2020 and 2023. A victory Saturday over No. 24 Illinois would give Rutgers three straight Big Ten wins for the first time. ... Washington's 31-19 win over UCLA was its 20th straight home victory, representing its second-longest such streak in school history. The Huskies won 45 straight home games from 1908-17. ... Wisconsin heads to Nebraska this week having won its last 10 matchups with the Cornhuskers. Penn State justifiably is favored on the road against Minnesota, but Bet MGM's 12 1⁄2-point spread seems way too big. Expect this game to have a single-digit margin. Kitchens will lead Tar Heels in Fenway Bowl against UConn. Another ex-Browns coach is standing byLG's CineBeam Q projector is a compact, premium 4K projector on sale right now for $799 ($500 off the regular price). Its auto keystone screen adjustment, vivid projection, and portability make it a top-tier projector. However, the CineBeam Q is expensive and requires an external speaker to really feel cinematic. Projectors are cool; they can take whatever media you want and blow it up tenfold, making screens out of blank walls and transforming the most mundane of spaces into mini theaters. The problem is that these devices are usually cumbersome, unportable, loud, fragile, and finicky. LG CineBeam Q easily solves all those problems as a three-pound, portable projector capable of screening in 4K at an image size of up to 120 inches. The Q has a laser RGB light source (instead of the traditional lamp projectors) that creates a vibrant, robust image across a wider spectrum of color, turning any wall that's big enough into a cinematic movie screen or gaming display. Also: The best Black Friday deals: Live updates LG CineBeam Q Projector The CineBeam Q is an ultra-portable 4K projector with a responsive auto-adjusting screen. Focusing and image arrangement -- typically a lengthy process of trial and error with other projectors -- is a snap with the Q, which has keystone screen adjustment technology that automatically senses and adjusts the picture to whatever space you're projecting on. Achieving the right image is as easy as adjusting the rotating kickstand to the proper height, allowing projection at any angle, including straight up, if you want to project onto the ceiling (which is awesome when you're lying down). The maximum size "screen" you can achieve on the CineBeam Q is about 120 inches and requires a distance of about 12 feet away from the wall or projector screen to get that big. On the flip side, the smallest the image can go is around a 50-inch projection, at about five feet distance. Anything closer or further than these extremes will see a drop-off in image quality and focus. The CineBeam Q operates much like an LG smart TV when you fire it up. LG's webOS 6 pulls up an app menu where you can load different streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, and YouTube, as well as use AirPlay to connect directly to your mobile device. You can also plug in an Apple TV or Chromecast with Google TV. Also: I tested the world's smallest projector with Google TV, and it blew me away On the back is one HDMI port, one USB-C port, and a power port, allowing for physical connections to other devices such as a gaming console or soundbar . Speaking of sound, you will definitely want to consider getting an accompanying soundbar or Bluetooth speaker to pair up with the Q, as its internal three-watt speakers don't do much to convey a theatrical experience. Also like a smart TV, there are a number of preset image profiles you can play with to get the optimal color and image, and it's worth cycling through these to see if you're getting the best possible image. When I was testing, setting it to 'Vivid' resulted in a significantly better image. The thing with projectors is that they're not TVs ; they don't have their own light source illuminating each pixel on the screen, so to get the optimal image quality, you really need to be in a dark space. Under these optimal lighting conditions, the Q looks fantastic, projecting at 500 ANSI lumens of brightness: the picture is vibrant, bright, and visibly 4K with a high degree of contrast. Also: I replaced my TV with this long-throw projector and it's absolutely worth it - especially for $200 off But if you're in a space with any amount of ambient light, the image quality degrades quickly. Those vibrant, saturated colors quickly become washed out and cloudy. Again, this isn't necessarily an issue with the Q specifically, but with all projectors, and should be considered as part of their limitations. While the Q isn't designed to replace your TV full-time, its flexibility and portability make it best for certain use cases, like movie nights. The experiential device transforms any wall big enough into a theater screen in a hardware package that screams premium. There are other portable projectors out there, such as Samsung's Freestyle 2 , which are smaller and less expensive, but they don't provide quite the same visual quality as the Q. The use cases for this device are varied, and may not be for everyone. Kids will absolutely go crazy for the Q, and I can see this being used in a kids' room as part of a movie night or fort-building adventure. Likewise, movie buffs who want to have a nighttime screening in the backyard or on a rooftop will love the portability and easy adjustment built into this projector. The only caveat is that the projector is not battery powered and can only be taken as far as its cord will go. This is perhaps one of the more limiting traits of the projector, as it's portable enough to go anywhere, but in practice is actually tethered to the power outlet. The device's power cord is also quite short, and I can't see this being used without an extension cord if you're going for that massive cinematic screen, especially if you're taking it outside. ZDNET's buying advice The CineBeam Q is a premium device that looks and feels high-end. Even when not in use, it's unique and well-designed enough to add personality to a desk or bookshelf. In terms of usability, it couldn't be easier: anyone who's navigated a smart TV menu will be able to fire it up, and the auto-adjustment technology makes focus and image arrangement seamless. In order to achieve a cinematic experience (and honestly, even if you're using it for gaming), you'll want to complete the package with a soundbar or Bluetooth speaker, but that's something that isn't too big of a deal: its small, compact form factor is the tradeoff for the lack of powerful sound. The price point does represent its niche market, but if you're looking for a top-tier projector that brings fantastic image quality, the CineBeam Q is where it's at. The fact that it's $500 off right now makes this deal impossible to overlook. What are the best Black Friday 2024 deals? Known for their postgame hugs of each other , the goaltending tandem of Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark became one of the best in the league over three seasons for the Boston Bruins. Unfortunately for the duo, with Swayman's emergence in the playoffs last season and Ullmark's pending free agency in 2025, Boston sent Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators in June for depth forward Mark Kastelic, backup goaltender Joonas Korpisalo and a first-round pick in 2024. However, things haven't gone to plan for the Senators (9-11-1) or Bruins (10-9-3) with their starting netminders this season. Swayman and Ullmark have struggled immensely, each sporting a save percentage below .890. Here is what has gone wrong for the netminders: Jeremy Swayman's holdout The Bruins, who host the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night, decided in the offseason that Swayman would be their full-time starter, but they still had to sign the restricted free agent to a new contract. Unfortunately for Boston, that didn't come easily. Swayman held out until Oct. 6, two days before the Bruins' opener against Florida. After missing all of training camp and preseason, Swayman struggled in his first regular-season game, stopping just 20 of 24 shots in a 6-4 win over the Montreal Canadiens. Swayman's struggles could be attributed to the lack of preseason games that would've allowed him to ease back into the swing of things. Too many games to handle? Although Ullmark won the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender in 2022-23, he only started 48 games, the lowest number of games started for a Vezina Trophy winner in a non-shortened season. In the three seasons Swayman and Ullmark were teammates with the Briuns, Swayman played 122 games and Ullmark 130, a near-even split. After spending three seasons in a tandem, perhaps neither goalie was prepared for a full-time starter role. Typically, a starting goaltender plays 50 or more games during a regular season. For Ullmark, the 48 games he started for Boston in 2022-23 were a career high. What the analytics say In addition to their poor save percentages, analytics also show that Swayman and Ullmark aren't necessarily victims of poor team defense in front of them. Ottawa, which plays next at San Jose on Wednesday, and Boston are fifth and 14th in shots against per game, respectively. When it comes to goals saved above expected , Swayman is the eighth-worst goalie in the league with a -6.5 mark, while Ullmark is 10th worst with -5.7. Ullmark is even worse in five-versus-five situations, ranking last among goaltenders with an -8.6 5v5 goals saved above expected. Swayman sports a -0.9 figure. Additionally, when it comes to their value provided to their teams, both Ullmark and Swayman have a negative 5v5 Wins Above Replacement, per MoneyPuck . Ullmark's is a league worst -1.43 while Swayman's is a -0.15. Can they turn things around? With both teams sitting outside the playoff picture, they'll need their netminders to return to form to make it to the postseason. Swayman's November was an improvement from October, albeit slight (.890 save percentage to .884 save percentage in October). On the flip side, Ullmark's has played worse, going from .904 to just .864 save percentage. Given their play before this season, it's likely that both find their form. However, if Swayman and Ullmark don't bounce back soon, Boston could be out of the playoffs for the first time since 2016, and Ottawa will miss the playoffs for the eighth straight season.Holiday shopping doesn't have to be stressfulBurlington Stores, Inc. CONAKRY, Guinea (AP) — Chaos erupted at a soccer game in Guinea after fans protested a referee’s call and thousands of panicked spectators tried to flee the stadium, leaving at least 56 people dead in the West African nation, officials and witnesses said Monday. Amid the confusion, security forces used tear gas, local news website Media Guinea reported. Many of the dead were crushed as they tried to escape through the stadium gates, a journalist covering the game for a local sports website told The Associated Press. “The gates, that’s where the stampede happened,” said Cissé Lancine, who got away by climbing over one of the stadium walls. “I was saved because I did not rush towards the exit." The world's latest sports crowd disaster unfurled Sunday in the second-largest city in a military-run nation where information is sparse and government-controlled at the best of times. It was not immediately clear how much the death toll could grow. Lancine said between 20,000 and 30,000 people were present at the Third of April stadium to watch the local Labe and Nzerekore teams compete in the final of the first national tournament honoring military leader Mamadi Doumbouya. Checkpoints were set up Monday throughout Nzerekore, a city of about 200,000 that was at a standstill as soldiers guarded the hospital where victims were being treated. Most shops were closed. Video, apparently from the scene, showed shouting fans protesting the refereeing. People ran as they tried to escape the stadium, many of them jumping the high fence. “Supporters threw stones. This is why the security services used tear gas,” reported Media Guinea, which also wrote that several of the dead were children and some of the injured were in critical condition. The footage showed people lying on the floor of a hospital as members of a crowd helped the wounded. Enock Loua, a resident of Nzerekore, learned over the phone that his niece Aline Olivier had been killed. "We have a hard time realizing what happened to us, it is as if the sky has fallen on our heads,” Loua told The Associated Press. Authorities are trying to establish who was responsible, Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah said on national television. The National Alliance for Alternation and Democracy opposition coalition said the tournament was organized to drum up support for Doumbouya's “illegal and inappropriate” political ambitions. Doumbouya, who ousted then-President Alpha Conde in 2021 , has been eyeing a possible run for the presidential election, for which the date has not been set. The transition charter put in place by his own regime does not allow him to run. Guinea is one of a number of West African countries — including Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso — where the military has taken power and delayed a return to civilian rule. Doumbouya said he was preventing the country from slipping into chaos and chastised the previous government for broken promises. He has, however, been criticized for not meeting the expectations that he raised. Guinea’s leader announced three days of national mourning starting on Tuesday, in a presidential decree read on national television. Follow AP’s Africa coverage at: https://apnews.com/hub/africaCYPRESS LAKE, Fla. (AP) — Robert McCray scored 21 points as Jacksonville beat Siena 75-64 on Tuesday. McCray added eight rebounds and five assists for the Dolphins (4-3). Zach Bell scored 11 points, going 3 of 5 and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line. Zimi Nwokeji went 3 of 7 from the field (2 for 4 from 3-point range) to finish with 10 points, while adding six rebounds. Gavin Doty finished with 21 points and nine rebounds for the Saints (3-4). Major Freeman added 12 points and four assists for Siena. Tajae Jones also had 11 points. The Associated Press created this story using technology provided by Data Skrive and data from Sportradar .City at least avoided a sixth consecutive defeat but the manner in which they blew a commanding advantage will do little to settle nerves in and around the club ahead of Sunday’s trip to Premier League leaders Liverpool. City appeared in total control after a brace from Erling Haaland and another from Ilkay Gundogan had them three up seven minutes into the second half, but after Anis Hadj Moussa got one back in the 75th minute, City imploded. “It is what it is, difficult to swallow right now,” Guardiola said. “The game was good, we played well, we scored three and could have scored more. We do everything and then we give away, especially the first one, and after we are not stable enough to do it. “It’s not about no run or no commitment, but football you have to be [switched on] in certain moments to do it.” Santiago Gimenez got Feyenoord’s second in the 82nd minute and David Hancko got a dramatic equaliser in the 89th, making City the first team in Champions League history to have led 3-0 in the 75th minute of a match and fail to win. Some City fans, who suffered through Saturday’s 4-0 humiliation at home to Tottenham, made their frustrations known at the final whistle. “The last game against Tottenham, 0-4, the supporters were there, applause,” he said. “They are disappointed of course and we understand it. “People come here not to remember success of the past, they come here to see the team win and perform well. I am not the one when the situation is bad or good [to say] what they have to do. “These supporters, when we go away, our fans are amazing, travelling. There is nothing to do and they are right to express what they feel.” Guardiola’s own frustrations were apparent given the number of scratches visible on his head after the match. The Catalan had arrived at the ground with a cut on his nose, which he said he had caused himself with a long fingernail. City now face a trip to Anfield to face the Liverpool side of former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, whose named was chanted by the visiting fans during the match. “Everybody knows the situation, I don’t have to add absolutely anything,” Guardiola said. “We are going to train tomorrow, recovery and prepare the next game. Day off and we have two or three days to prepare that and go for it. We will learn for the future and what has been has been. “It will be a tough season for us and we have to accept it for many circumstances.” Feyenoord’s late fightback brought jubilant scenes in the away end. “I think if you’re from Feyenoord it was an unbelievable evening,” head coach Brian Priske said. “A strange game which ends 3-3 which is an unbelievable result for us and also remarkable in the essence of being 3-0 down in minute 75 away from home against still, for me, the best team in the world. “Normally we don’t celebrate draws but this one is a little bit special.”
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Ian Schieffelin had 18 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists in leading Clemson to a 75-67 win over Penn State on Tuesday and the championship of the Sunshine Slam Beach Division. Chase Hunter added 17 points, Chauncey Wiggins 14 and Del Jones 10 for the Tigers (6-1), who shot 44% and made 9 of 19 3-pointers led by Hunter's three. Ace Baldwin Jr. scored 20 points and had 11 assists, Yanic Konan Niederhauser added 14 points and Nick Kern Jr. 11 for the Nittany Lions (6-1), who shot 46% and were just 4 of 18 from the arc. Neither team had a double-digit lead in the game and it was tied with seven minutes to go. But Penn State had a six-minute drought without a field goal while committing three turnovers and the Tigers went up by six. A hook shot from Schieffelin with a minute to go made it a five-point lead and free throws sealed it from there. The eight-point final margin was the largest of the game. Konan Niederhauser's dunk to open the second half tied the game but a Hunter 3-pointer gave the lead back to Clemson. Penn State took its first lead of the second half on a 9-0 run, seven coming from Baldwin, to go up 57-54 with midway through the period. Penn State had its largest lead of seven in the first half but three consecutive 3s put Clemson ahead with three minutes to go and the Tigers led at 38-36 at halftime. Clemson had a 16-9 edge on points off turnovers. ___ Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season. Sign up here .
