Elway: Remorse over passing on Allen mitigated by play of NixSocial media platform Threads , which is a part of Meta Platforms META is rolling out new search tools as it looks to compete with X and fast-growing competitor Bluesky . What Happened: Threads, which like Bluesky, has been trending and gaining new subscribers as people look for alternatives to Elon Musk's X platform. The Meta-owned company announced new search tools, which include the option to refine searches by a profile and date range. The update will roll out globally over the coming weeks, according to the company. "We're making it easier for you to search for specific posts here," the company said. While the new search tools still pale in comparison to ways to find posts on X, Threads can better compete with Bluesky, according to a report from TechCrunch. On Bluesky, users can search by user profiles and date ranges. Prior to the latest Threads update, the platform offered basic search functions like using a keyword and then narrowing results based on top results or recent results. Read Also: X Vs. Threads Vs. Bluesky: Does Elon Musk’s Social Media Site Still Reign Supreme? Why It's Important: In October, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Threads had around 275 million monthly users, averaging around one million signups daily. Bluesky has also seen strong growth in recent months with users looking for alternates to X since the 2024 election. Bluesky had around nine million users in October and has grown to around 24 million users, according to the report. Outside of the new search tools, Threads recently made changes that included users being able to choose their default feed. The focus on new features could show how serious Meta is about growing Threads and/or come as Bluesky is growing in the sector. "Engagement is growing too, so we continue to be on track towards this becoming our next major social app," Zuckerberg said in October of Threads. At the time, Meta Chief Financial Officer Susan Li also said there were plans to bring more features to Threads given the growth potential. “We’re very focused on continuing to build out the sort of functionality of Threads over time and being responsive to what users tell us that they’re interest in," Li said. META Price Action: Meta Platforms stock hit an all-time high of $614.20 Tuesday before closing up 3.51% to $613.65. The stock is up 77% year-to-date in 2024. NEW YORK — Stoli Group USA, the owner of the namesake vodka , has filed for bankruptcy as it struggled to contend with slowing demand for spirits, a major cyberattack that has snarled its operations and several years of fighting Russia in court. The company in its bankruptcy filing said it is “experiencing financial difficulties” and lists between $50 million and $100 million in liabilities. Stoli vodka and Kentucky Owl bourbon will continue to be available on store shelves while the company navigates the Chapter 11 process, which only pertains to its U.S. business. Until 2022, Stoli was sold as Stolichnaya in the United States, which loosely translates to “capital city” in Russian. The company shortened its title following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and boycotts against Russian-branded vodkas . Stoli Group’s founder, Russian-born billionaire Yuri Shefler, was exiled from that nation in 2000 because of his opposition to President Vladimir Putin. Intel announced on December 2 that CEO Pat Gelsinger has resigned after a difficult stint at the company. The once-dominant chipmaker’s stock cratered as it missed the AI boom and was surpassed by most of its rivals. The liquor has long been marketed as a Russian vodka, but its production facilities have been in Latvia for several decades. Stoli Group is a unit of Luxembourg-based SPI Group, which owns other spirit and wine brands. “The Stoli Group has been targeted by the Russian Federation since it was formed nearly 25 years ago,” said Stoli Group CEO Chris Caldwell in a statement. “Earlier this year the company and our owner were both named by the Russian state as ‘extremist groups working against Russia’s interests.’” Its ongoing legal battle with the Russia government has forced Stoli to “spend dozens of millions of dollars on this long-term court battle across the globe with the Russian authorities,” according to its court filing. Caldwell also said that Stoli’s global operations has been a “victim of a malicious cyber attack” that has forced the company to operate “entirely manually while the systems are rebuilt.” A slowdown in demand for alcohol has crushed several company’s bottom lines following the pandemic when people were stuck at home and stocked up. Stoli’s filings said that it has seen a “decline and softening of demand for alcohol and spirits products post-Covid and especially beginning in 2023 and continuing into 2024.” Stoli Group USA, maker of Stoli vodka, has filed for bankruptcy due to slowing demand for spirits, a major cyberattack, and ongoing legal battles with Russia. Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said that 98 per cent of the caste survey undertaken by the state government has been completed. Describing the survey as a “mega health check-up” for Telangana society, the Chief Minister said the data collected would enable the ruling Congress to ensure “better representation” of the Kuruma community in panchayats, as well as in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, proportional to their population. He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Doddi Komuraiah Kuruma Bhavan’ here. The Telangana government’s socio-economic, employment, political, and caste survey, which was an election promise by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, began on November 6. Amid criticism from the BRS regarding the unveiling of a new design for ‘Telangana Thalli’ (Mother Telangana), distinct from the one used by the regional party, Reddy defended the Congress-led government’s design. He said it symbolises a “typical mother” carrying crops grown in Telangana, such as paddy, maize, and jowar, in one hand, while the other hand blesses the people. Separately, at the ‘Global Madiga Day-2024’ event, Revanth Reddy assured that the Congress government would make every effort to “ensure justice” for the Madiga community. He stated that the government has formed a committee, led by Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, to examine the sub-classification of SCs. He added that the Congress government has appointed members of the Madiga community to senior leadership positions in universities and other institutions. The sports media world lost a pioneer on Friday, as longtime USA TODAY sports columnist Rudy Martzke died at the age of 82. (AP) — Thomas Brown insists he's focused on the job at hand and not the one he might have down the line. His immediate task as the interim coach of the Chicago Bears is helping the team finish strong over the final five games, starting this weekend at San Francisco. The rest of his life can wait. “I think about just the moment. ... I obviously understand the role that I'm in, understand what might come with it," he said Wednesday. "But I also understand that we make most situations bigger than what it has to be because of the outside noise, what everybody else puts a value on it.” The Bears are in a moment unlike any other in the history of the founding NFL franchise. They fired a head coach for the first time during a season when they let Matt Eberflus go on Friday with a 4-8 record and the team in a six-game losing streak marked by head-scratching decisions. They promoted Brown, who in a span of three weeks went from passing game coordinator to offensive coordinator and now the person in charge. The tipping point was a 23-20 loss at Detroit on Thanksgiving, when the Bears let the clock run down rather than call a timeout following a sack. It led to Caleb Williams throwing an incomplete pass from the Lions 41 as time expired when Chicago should have been able to run more than one play. Star cornerback Jaylon Johnson interrupted Eberflus' postgame speech and made his feelings clear. Other players had gone public in recent weeks with their frustrations over the coaching decisions, and they didn't exactly hide their emotions following the Detroit game. On Wednesday, defensive end DeMarcus Walker said he sensed a change was coming after the loss to the Lions. “You guys just look at the whole turnaround, how everything had been going, we just knew some changes were going to be made,” he said. The 38-year-old Brown now has a huge opportunity. He spent last season as Carolina's offensive coordinator and the previous three on Sean McVay's staff with the Los Angeles Rams — the final two as assistant head coach. Prior to that, he spent nine years as a college assistant, including stops at Wisconsin, Georgia, Miami and South Carolina. It's his job to help right a team that came into the season thinking a playoff spot was in reach. Williams' development obviously will be front and center. To that end, the No. 1 overall draft pick has looked more comfortable in the three games since Brown took over for the fired Shane Waldron as offensive coordinator, completing 75 of 117 passes for 827 yards with five touchdowns, no interceptions and a rating of 99.2. Though Brown will continue to call plays, the Bears have another new offensive coordinator in wide receivers coach Chris Beatty. “I think it is a stepping stone actually with my development because I think down the line I’ll have different OCs or different head coaches or whatever the case may be,” Williams said. “And so being able to handle it my first year, handle a new playbook, handle all these different changes, handle all of this I think it definitely will help the development instead of hurting it or anything like that.” Beyond the development of the prized quarterback, Brown also will be judged during his audition for the regular job on his preparation, decisions during games and command of the locker room. He said he reached out to each player individually on Friday and Saturday and tried to set a tone when the team met on Monday. “I want them to be excellent,” Brown said. “I can nitpick at every single play and tell a guy how he wasn’t perfect. And, so, perfection’s not the goal. It’s to excel at your craft.” Notes: The Bears had a lengthy injury report on Wednesday. WRs Keenan Allen (ankle) and DJ Moore (quad), RBs D'Andre Swift (quad) and Roschon Johnson (concussion), DB Elijah Hicks (ankle) and OL Ryan Bates (concussion) all missed practice. S Kevin Byard (shoulder) and OLs Darnnell Wright (knee) and Coleman Shelton (knee) were limited. Every Christmas, a relatively small town in the Palestinian West Bank comes center stage: Bethlehem. Jesus, according to some biblical sources, was born in this town some two millennia ago. Yet the New Testament Gospels do not agree about the details of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem. Some do not mention Bethlehem or Jesus’ birth at all. The Gospels’ different views might be hard to reconcile. But as a scholar of the New Testament, what I argue is that the Gospels offer an important insight into the Greco-Roman views of ethnic identity , including genealogies. Today, genealogies may bring more awareness of one’s family medical history or help uncover lost family members. In the Greco-Roman era , birth stories and genealogical claims were used to establish rights to rule and link individuals with purported ancestral grandeur. According to the Gospel of Matthew, the first Gospel in the canon of the New Testament, Joseph and Mary were in Bethlehem when Jesus was born . The story begins with wise men who come to the city of Jerusalem after seeing a star that they interpreted as signaling the birth of a new king. It goes on to describe their meeting with the local Jewish king named Herod, of whom they inquire about the location of Jesus’ birth. The Gospel says that the star of Bethlehem subsequently leads them to a house – not a manger – where Jesus has been born to Joseph and Mary. Overjoyed, they worship Jesus and present gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. These were valuable gifts, especially frankincense and myrrh, which were costly fragrances that had medicinal use. The Gospel explains that after their visit, Joseph has a dream where he is warned of Herod’s attempt to kill baby Jesus. When the wise men went to Herod with the news that a child had been born to be the king of the Jews, he made a plan to kill all young children to remove the threat to his throne. It then mentions how Joseph, Mary and infant Jesus leave for Egypt to escape King Herod’s attempt to assassinate all young children. Matthew also says that after Herod dies from an illness, Joseph, Mary and Jesus do not return to Bethlehem. Instead, they travel north to Nazareth in Galilee , which is modern-day Nazareth in Israel. The Gospel of Luke, an account of Jesus’ life which was written during the same period as the Gospel of Matthew, has a different version of Jesus’ birth. The Gospel of Luke starts with Joseph and a pregnant Mary in Galilee. They journey to Bethlehem in response to a census that the Roman emperor Caesar Augustus required for all the Jewish people. Since Joseph was a descendant of King David, Bethlehem was the hometown where he was required to register. The Gospel of Luke includes no flight to Egypt, no paranoid King Herod, no murder of children and no wise men visiting baby Jesus. Jesus is born in a manger because all the travelers overcrowded the guest rooms. After the birth, Joseph and Mary are visited not by wise men but shepherds , who were also overjoyed at Jesus’ birth. Luke says these shepherds were notified about Jesus’ location in Bethlehem by angels. There is no guiding star in Luke’s story, nor do the shepherds bring gifts to baby Jesus. Luke also mentions that Joseph, Mary and Jesus leave Bethlehem eight days after his birth and travel to Jerusalem and then to Nazareth . The differences between Matthew and Luke are nearly impossible to reconcile, although they do share some similarities. John Meier , a scholar on the historical Jesus, explains that Jesus’ “birth at Bethlehem is to be taken not as a historical fact” but as a “theological affirmation put into the form of an apparently historical narrative.” In other words, the belief that Jesus was a descendant of King David led to the development of a story about Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem. Raymond Brown , another scholar on the Gospels, also states that “the two narratives are not only different – they are contrary to each other in a number of details.” What makes it more difficult is that neither the other Gospels, that of Mark and John, mentions Jesus’ birth or his connection to Bethlehem. The Gospel of Mark is the earliest account of Jesus’ life, written around A.D. 60. The opening chapter of Mark says that Jesus is from “ Nazareth of Galilee .” This is repeated throughout the Gospel on several occasions , and Bethlehem is never mentioned. A blind beggar in the Gospel of Mark describes Jesus as both from Nazareth and the son of David, the second king of Israel and Judah during 1010-970 B.C. But King David was not born in Nazareth, nor associated with that city. He was from Bethlehem . Yet Mark doesn’t identify Jesus with the city Bethlehem. The Gospel of John, written approximately 15 to 20 years after that of Mark, also does not associate Jesus with Bethlehem. Galilee is Jesus’ hometown. Jesus finds his first disciples , does several miracles and has brothers in Galilee . This is not to say that John was unaware of Bethlehem’s significance. John mentions a debate where some Jewish people referred to the prophecy which claimed that the messiah would be a descendant of David and come from Bethlehem . But Jesus according to John’s Gospel is never associated with Bethlehem, but with Galilee, and more specifically, Nazareth . The Gospels of Mark and John reveal that they either had trouble linking Bethlehem with Jesus, did not know his birthplace, or were not concerned with this city. These were not the only ones. Apostle Paul, who wrote the earliest documents of the New Testament, considered Jesus a descendant of David but does not associate him with Bethlehem . The Book of Revelation also affirms that Jesus was a descendant of David but does not mention Bethlehem . During the period of Jesus’ life, there were multiple perspectives on the Messiah . In one stream of Jewish thought, the Messiah was expected to be an everlasting ruler from the lineage of David . Other Jewish texts, such as the book 4 Ezra , written in the same century as the Gospels, and the Jewish sectarian Qumran literature , which is written two centuries earlier, also echo this belief. But within the Hebrew Bible, a prophetic book called Micah , thought to be written around B.C. 722, prophesies that the messiah would come from David’s hometown, Bethlehem . This text is repeated in Matthew’s version. Luke mentions that Jesus is not only genealogically connected to King David, but also born in Bethlehem, “ the city of David .” [ Deep knowledge, daily. Sign up for The Conversation’s newsletter .] Genealogical claims were made for important ancient founders and political leaders. For example, Ion , the founder of the Greek colonies in Asia, was considered to be a descendant of Apollo. Alexander the Great , whose empire reached from Macedonia to India, was claimed to be a son of Hercules. Caesar Augustus , who was the first Roman emperor, was proclaimed as a descendant of Apollo. And a Jewish writer named Philo who lived in the first century wrote that Abraham and the Jewish priest and prophets were born of God. Regardless of whether these claims were accepted at the time to be true, they shaped a person’s ethnic identity, political status and claims to honor. As the Greek historian Polybius explains, the renown deeds of ancestors are “ part of the heritage of posterity .” Matthew and Luke’s inclusion of the city of Bethlehem contributed to the claim that Jesus was the Messiah from a Davidic lineage. They made sure that readers were aware of Jesus’ genealogical connection to King David with the mention of this city. Birth stories in Bethlehem solidified the claim that Jesus was a rightful descendant of King David. So today, when the importance of Bethlehem is heard in Christmas carols or displayed in Nativity scenes, the name of the town connects Jesus to an ancestral lineage and the prophetic hope for a new leader like King David. Stocks to buy: HDFC Bank to Zomato—Stoxbox recommends top 10 picks to boost your portfolio in 2025Throughout 2024, there have been numerous reports from the US and globally of unexplained drone sightings near nuclear sites and military installations. New Jersey has been particularly affected by these mysterious objects. In response to escalating concerns from politicians and the public , the Department of Defense issued a statement designed to alleviate the increasingly widespread fears. They stressed that most, if not all, of the reported sightings were simply ordinary drones used by hobbyists, businesses, and law enforcement. Officials even specifically dismissed claims made by Republican Congressman Jeff Van Drew, who stated he was informed that the drones were being launched from an Iranian ship lurking off the US eastern seaboard. FBI investigates mystery drones flying over central New Jersey in recent weeks Aliens 'trying to send us a message about nuclear weapons' says ex-US army official However, Mike Glover, a former drone operator for both defense research lab DARPA and the US military, has expressed skepticism about the explanation that these craft – some reportedly as large as an SUV – are regular surveillance drones. "All these sightings are at night," he highlights. "The infrared and thermal technology even today – which has advanced in the last decade since I've been in the military – is still not great when it comes to flying at night." Mike speculated that the Biden administration might, in its final days, launch a strike against Iran's nuclear facilities to delay the development of an Iranian nuclear bomb. Recent data from the International Atomic Energy Agency suggests that Iran could potentially enrich enough uranium for five fission weapons at short notice. The nation has denied external inspectors access to its facilities since early 2021. Foreign policy experts caution that if Iran were to develop its own nuclear weapons, it would further destabilise the already volatile Middle East and possibly pose a significant threat to Israel. From Mike's viewpoint, having the world captivated by tales of untraceable, unidentified drones could be just the "distraction" the US government needs. Speaking on former US Navy SEAL Andy Stumpf's Ironclad podcast , Mike said: "If there's a potential strike that's going to take place ...we don't want to telegraph that. Maybe the national media ...is pushing this narrative and this story to distract from what actually is going to happen here in the near future." Despite an FAA ban on drone flights in certain parts of New Jersey, the nightly intrusions persist, often with choreographed displays of dozens of orange glowing drones performing intricate aerobatics. A second prediction of major developments in the New Jersey drone saga comes from an alleged US army whistleblower who posts videos under the screen name UnspokenWill. Dressed in current-issue US Army fatigues marked with a "Williams" name tag, he alleged: "We are launching the drones in New Jersey, Texas, everywhere. "There are man-made drones and we're doing the launching," he declared. "Now what you do have to be concerned of... is the orbs that's in the sky that you all see – the stuff that's shooting down drones." He went on to claim that these "orbs" are maneuvered by "real-life aliens". And, he assured, "in 2025, there will be a lot more exposure of the truth. I can't say the reason why, but aliens are real".COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio General Assembly sent a bill to Gov. Mike DeWine’s desk that would allow people and conservation organizations to collect and share native plant seeds with other like-minded people. House Bill 364 is hoped to encourage people to plant more native plants, which would create native plant habitats to ensure Ohio’s natural species thrive, according to a statement from The Nature Conservancy. HB 364 passed unanimously the Ohio House in June 12 and unanimously in the Senate on Dec. 18. The bill also eliminates certain weeds from the list of those that a manager of a road or railroad must remove. It’s the native plant provisions that have conservationists excited. “Once signed into law, this will have a significant impact on efforts throughout the state to remove invasive plants and replace them with plants native to Ohio, provide more habitat to threatened insects and even help individuals who want to create their own pollinator garden ,” said Mary Turocy, director of policy and government relations for The Nature Conservancy Ohio, in a statement. The organization has collected native seeds on its preserves throughout Ohio to replant on other areas its preserves to replace invasive plants or restore fields previously used for farming or pasture. “Native plants have an impact across the ecological food web,” said Peter Blank, Northwest Ohio program manager for The Nature Conservancy. “Native plants provide sanctuary for pollinators, like bees and butterflies, and a habitat for beneficial insects like beetles, dragonflies and wasps, which prey on people pests—like mosquitoes—and pests that damage agricultural crops. More insects mean more food for small mammals and birds, which then benefits hawks and owls. And it all starts with native plants.” Two examples of native plants that could become more prominent across Ohio are milkweed and Blazing Star. Monarch butterflies love milkweed. The Blazing Star Moth only eats the Blazing Star, which sprouts tall stocks of purple or pink flowers. Without these plants, neither species could survive. Stories by Laura Hancock Lt. Gov. Survey: Small businesses feel optimistic about the economy after the electionLOS ANGELES (AP) — Two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell says it was a really easy decision to sign with the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers and the presence of three-time MVP Shohei Ohtani played a part, too. Snell was introduced Tuesday at Dodger Stadium accompanied by his agent Scott Boras. The left-hander finalized a $182 million, five-year contract last Saturday. “It was really easy just cause me and Haeley wanted to live here, it’s something we’ve been talking about for a while,” Snell said, referring to his girlfriend. “Then you look at the team. You look at what they’ve built, what they’re doing. It’s just something you want to be a part of.” Last month, Snell opted out of his deal with San Francisco to become a free agent for the second consecutive offseason after he was slowed by injuries during his lone year with the San Francisco Giants. Snell gets a $52 million signing bonus, payable on Jan. 25, and annual salaries of $26 million, of which $13.2 million each year will be deferred . Because Snell is a Washington state resident, the signing bonus will not be subject to California income tax. “It just played out the way that people around me felt comfortable with, I felt comfortable with, they felt comfortable with,” Snell said. “We talked and found something that could work for both of us. You want your worth, you want your respect, and you want enough time to where you can really make a name for yourself. I've made a name for myself outside of LA, but I'm going to be invested.” Two-way star Ohtani, who signed a record $700 million, 10-year deal a year ago, had a historic first season with the Dodgers. He helped them win the franchise's eighth World Series while playing only as designated hitter and became MVP in the National League for the first time after twice winning the award while in the American League. “It helps with him in the lineup for sure. That’s big motivation,” Snell said. “You want to be around players like that when you’re trying to be one of the best in the game. Yeah, it played a big part.” Snell joins Ohtani and fellow Japanese right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto atop Los Angeles’ rotation. All-Star Tyler Glasnow will be back after having his first season in LA derailed by a sprained elbow. Ohtani didn’t pitch this year while recovering from right elbow surgery but is expected back on the mound in 2025. The rest of the rotation includes Tony Gonsolin, Landon Knack, Dustin May, Bobby Miller and Emmet Sheehan. “I pitched on six-man, five-man, four-man rotations,” Snell said. “I'm good with it all as long as we have a plan, we'll execute it.” Snell, who turns 32 on Wednesday, went 5-3 with a 3.12 ERA in 20 starts this year, throwing a no-hitter at Cincinnati on Aug. 2 for one of only 16 individual shutouts in the major leagues this season. He struck out 145 and walked 44 in 104 innings. He was sidelined between April 19 and May 22 by a strained left adductor and between June 2 and July 9 by a strained left groin. Snell won Cy Young Awards in 2018 with Tampa Bay and 2023 with San Diego. He is 76-58 with a 3.19 ERA in nine seasons with the Rays (2016-20), Padres (2021-23) and Giants. He has known Andrew Friedman, Dodgers president of baseball operations, since he was 18. In the aftermath of winning the World Series and discussing how the Dodgers could repeat next year, Friedman said, “All conversations kept coming back to Blake.” “Usually in major league free agency, you're buying the backside of a guy's career, the accomplishments that they have had,” he said. “With Blake, one thing that's really exciting for us is, as much success as he's had, we feel like there's more in there." Snell was 2-2 against the Dodgers in his career. “We couldn’t beat him, so we’re going to have him join us,” Friedman said. .___ AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB

While Christmas is typically a time of joy and celebration for many, it can also be a period of stress for others. The preparations for guests, cooking a large meal, and buying numerous gifts can be overwhelming. According to scientists, this can have a negative impact on the body. A study published in the British Medical Journal in 2018 revealed that Christmas Eve is one of the most common times of the year for heart attacks. As part of their research, a Swedish team analysed data from a heart attack registry collected between 1998 and 2013. They were particularly interested in whether factors such as national holidays, major sports events, the hour of the day, or the day of the week could increase the risk of a heart attack. It was found that during the Christmas and New Year period, the risk of a heart attack increased by 15 per cent compared to the control period. However, this significantly rose on December 24, when the risk shot up to 37 per cent. The peak time for heart attacks on Christmas Eve was 10pm, reports Surrey Live . The researchers attributed this increase to the fact that Swedes hold most of their festive celebrations on Christmas Eve, unlike in the Ireland where they are held on Christmas Day. They suggested that emotions tend to peak at this time of year. The study also found that individuals over the age of 75 and/or those with diabetes and pre-existing heart conditions were at the greatest risk. Midsummer, considered the second most significant holiday in Sweden, was identified as a perilous period for heart attacks, with a 12% increased risk. Apart from holidays, Monday mornings at 8am were also associated with a higher incidence of heart attacks. The research builds on earlier studies linking heart attacks to holidays and major events. "In Western countries, cardiac mortality and hospital admission due to myocardial infarction [heart attack] has been observed to peak at the Christmas and New Year holiday," the study stated. "The risk of myocardial infarction has also been linked to football championships, hurricanes, and stock market crashes. "It is therefore conjectured that factors associated with emotional stress, physical activity, and lifestyle changes may modulate the onset of myocardial infarction by acting as short term triggers." The study concluded: "In this large study covering 16 years of clinical myocardial infarction data, a higher risk of myocardial infarction was observed during Christmas/New Year and Midsummer holidays but not during the Easter holiday." "The highest risk was during Christmas Eve and in patients over 75, and those with previous diabetes and coronary artery disease. Sports events were not associated with higher risk of myocardial infarction." Per HSE guidelines, typical symptoms of a heart attack include an overwhelming sense of anxiety (akin to having a panic attack); chest pain – a feeling of pressure, heaviness, tightness or squeezing across your chest; pain in other parts of the body – it can feel as if the pain is spreading from your chest to your arms (usually the left arm, but it can affect both arms), jaw, neck, back and tummy; feeling lightheaded or dizzy; sweating and shortness of breath; feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting). If you suspect that you or someone else is experiencing a heart attack, it's crucial to dial 999 straight away.
