Timberwolves push back start time vs. Spurs because of issue with game courtDespite opening the year with a door plug blowout whose fallout reverberated throughout the industry, U.S. airlines had a pretty good year in the stock market. Bloomberg reports that the S&P Supercomposite Airlines index rose 57% this year, beating the S&P 500 by more than 30 percentage points — the biggest such gap in a decade. The year had some particularly big Wall Street flops among carriers, with the now-bankrupt Spirit Airlines coming to mind. Its shares were delisted by the New York Stock Exchange and now trade among so-called penny stocks ; they have lost nearly all their value. But after that late-in-the-year hiccup, various airlines have been upgrading their internal forecasts and pointing to an acceleration in customer demand. One name in particular has had an especially good 2024. United Airlines ( UAL -1.81% ) , which competes with Delta Air Lines ( DAL -1.86% ) as the preeminent domestic name in the space — the two companies are dueling to see who can build the country’s biggest airport lounge — has seen its stock rise nearly 140%. When a so-called “capacity crisis” of unsold seats depressed airfares, United told investors that it saw the headwind coming and cut down on supply in order to turn the situation into a major tailwind . 📬 Sign up for the Daily Brief Our free, fast, and fun briefing on the global economy, delivered every weekday morning.Anxiety about money, gun violence and hate crimes ranked high on list of American's concerns Limiting your news consumption may help ease stress and anxiety More than before, Americans surveyed say they'll make mental health resolutions for 2025 FRIDAY, Dec. 27, 2024 (HealthDay News) -- Should you cut back on doom scrolling in 2025? Worries about money, gun violence and hate crimes ranked high among many people's lists of worries at the end of 2024, according to a poll that is part of American Psychiatric Association (APA) Healthy Minds Monthly opinion poll series. The survey included 2200 U.S. adults. Reducing news consumption may be beneficial for your mental health , experts say. "If current events seem overwhelming it may be time to limit your news consumption,” Dr. Marketa Wills , medical director of the APA, said. “While we like to stay informed, the news can also impact our mental health, and being mindful of that impact is important," Wells said in a news release. According to the APA's research, American adults have remained most anxious about the economy and gun violence throughout 2024. Looking ahead to 2025, more than 1/3 of Americans surveyed (33%) say they will make mental health-related New Year’s resolutions, which is a 5% increase from last year. In fact, the increase is the highest result the APA has collected since it began asking the question in 2021. As usual, many people report that they will pledge to be more physically active in 2025; other resolutions focus on participating in mentally healthy activities. Spend more time in nature (46%) Meditation (44%) Focus on spirituality (37%) Take a social media break (30%) Journaling (29%) “A new year brings with it new opportunities but also renewed concerns about the very important issues that impact our lives,” Wills said, adding that “any time of the year, mental health matters. Staying mindful of how we’re doing while taking active steps to care for ourselves is a terrific resolution.” More information The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has more on stress and anxiety management. Carter Center came to former president in a dreamNew Delhi, Dec 28 (IANS): Congress candidate from New Delhi Assembly constituency Sandeep Dikshit on Saturday challenged AAP convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to a public debate and vowed to expose his links with the BJP. Talking to IANS, Dikshit said, “I will give 100s of evidence to prove how they have helped the BJP win elections at the Centre and in states.” “As part of a conspiracy, the AAP has directly helped the BJP and tried to defeat the Congress,” Dikshit said, dismissing the AAP allegation that he was being used as a front by the BJP to defeat the AAP. Lashing out at AAP leaders’ habit of making baseless allegations, he said, “We are still waiting to see the 350-page evidence Kejriwal had promised to issue against Sheila ji (former Delhi CM and late Congress leader).” “I challenge Kejriwal to share if they have anything substantive to prove that I have some links with the BJP,” said a combative Dikshit, who is fighting the upcoming Assembly election against Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency. Highlighting the alleged wrongdoings of the AAP, the Congress leader referred to LG V.K. Saxena’s decision to seek a report within three days from Delhi Police after an inquiry into the Congress leader’s complaint of illegal political surveillance ahead of Assembly elections. Dikshit, a former Member of Parliament, has alleged that intelligence personnel from Punjab have parked their vehicles outside his home. The LG’s office said in an order, “This pertains to a representation received from Sandeep Dikshit, former MP and candidate of the Congress for the upcoming Delhi Vidhan Sabha Elections, 2025. He has raised serious concerns regarding intelligence personnel from the Punjab government allegedly visiting his residence and parking their vehicles outside his house.” "The Lieutenant Governor has noted the gravity of the allegations. Given the impending Vidhan Sabha elections, it is essential that potential candidates are not subjected to any form of intimidation or coercion that could hinder their participation in the democratic process,” said a statement from Raj Niwas.

A senior official of the NFR said that as per a decision by the Railway Board, all NFR-run passenger trains (ICF/DEMU/LHB) would be operated with regular number (instead of the existing ‘0’ numbering system). All the 60 pairs of passenger trains would operate as per earlier frequency with their earlier train numbers from January 2025 onwards, he said. Out of the 60 pairs of passenger trains, four pairs would operate from Tinsukia Division, 19 pairs from Lumding Division, 10 pairs from Rangiya Division, six pairs from Alipurduar Division (West Bengal) and 21 pairs would operate from Katihar Division (Bihar). The details of stoppages and timings of all the 60 pairs of trains are available on the IRCTC website and the social media platforms of the NFR. According to the official, during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020-21, the railway ran special trains with a little higher fare and these systems still continued. The NFR operates in the northeastern states and in seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of northern Bihar with more than 6,400 km of tracks in its jurisdiction. The official said that the NFR has been making a constant endeavour to make train journeys safer and secure. He said that during the month of November, the NFR installed Thick Web Switch Point machines with clamp-type locking in 31 stations across the zone to further improve the safety features. To further enhance efficiency and safety, NFR has carried out various upgrades and replacements to its existing signalling system in several sections within the zone, the official stated.
